There was a small church of 6 members in Uganda who struggled to find even enough money to pay for the small room they rented to hold their worship service. When the pastor began attending the TCT training, his eyes were opened to the whole story of the Gospel. After first applying the lessons to his own life and with his family, he began teaching his church.
The church realized that despite their own poverty, they could show love to others in practical ways. They were especially inspired to care for the elderly who were not members of the church. They planted gardens so that they would be able to give food to those who needed it. They cleaned water sources and helped the community gain access to electricity and piped water. They helped a couple grow their sewing business from 1 sewing machine to 4.
As the church has shown love in the community, they have found that their own lives have also improved and their businesses have grown. These Acts of Love also improved the church’s reputation in the community. The church has grown from 6 members to over 100 believers.
The members of the church are poor and by most people’s standards do not have extra to give. But God’s ways are different from the world’s. These church members realized that God has blessed them richly and that great joy and blessing comes in serving others.
